If you use the once-a-day product you can, in theory, properly digest all the lactose you ingest in a day. In some cases, for example if you are very sensitive to lactose, it may be necessary to take a lactase capsule or tablet to digest large amounts of lactose. However, for most people this is not necessary and the once-a-day is sufficient to properly digest all lactose during the day.

The "once a day" needs some build up of time to have the full effect when used for the first time. This is because the probiotics need some time to build up in the intestines. This takes about 5-14 days after the first use for most people. The effect of the once a day will continue as long as you take a capsule daily.

Feel free to use the "once a day" capsules for a long time, as this does not result in any disadvantages or side effects. Many of our customers have been using this product for years with positive results. You can also choose to use this product temporarily, for example during a holiday. If this is the case, please take into account the build-up period of 5-14 days after the first use.

In most people, the effect of the "once a day" will remain undiminished, even if you use the capsules for a long time. However, in certain circumstances, the effect may be temporarily reduced, for example in case of illness (with vomiting, diarrhoea) or when taking an antibiotic treatment. In this case we recommend temporarily stopping taking the capsules and trying again later. If it still does not work as it used to, you can choose an alternative, such as our lactase 20,000 tablets.

The "once a day" contains probiotics. Probiotics are known to cause a rumbling sensation in the intestines, especially at first. The intestines usually need a few days to get used to the probiotics. The symptoms should be reduced within a week and then disappear completely. Are you experiencing more serious symptoms such as severe abdominal pain and diarrhoea? If so, please feel free to contact us and together we will look for a solution. The "once a day" capsules work very well for 80-90% of those taking it. In a small part of the population the intestines are so sensitive that the probiotics are not well tolerated. Fortunately, we also have a number of alternatives.

You can use the lactase drops for making various liquid (sweet) dairy products, lactose free. Depending on the amount and consistency of the product, you can add a number of drops. After 24 hours, 80% of all lactose in the product has been broken down. Products that you can make lactose free using the drops include: Milk (5 drops per litre) Chocolate milk (5 drops per litre) Coffee milk (5 drops per 250 ml) Whipped cream (5 drops per 250 ml) Cooking cream (5 drops per 250 ml) Condensed milk (10 drops per 250 ml) Mascarpone (10 drops per 250 ml) Cream cheese (10 drops per 250 ml)

Unfortunately, the drops are not resistant to an acidic environment and therefore they are not suitable to make acidic dairy products such as yogurt, cottage cheese, sour cream, crème fraîche or buttermilk lactose free. However, you can take a lactase tablet or capsule to still be able to properly digest all lactose.

Add the required number of drops to the dairy product. Make sure the drops are mixed well into the dairy product by shaking or stirring well. Then leave it in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours, at least 80% of all lactose will have been broken down. If you would like a completely lactose free dairy product, add more drops or leave it for longer in the refrigerator before use.
